To provide a broadcast receiving apparatus and a broadcast receiving method for automatically switching programs to an optimum one in a simulcast broadcasting by detecting the simulcast.
There are provided receiving means for receiving program information; simulcast detection means for generating an identification for every program based upon the program information from the receiving means, and further preparing a program information list including the identification number and program information corresponding to the identification number; priority determination means for preparing a priority information list based upon simulcast switching information set by a user; storage means for storing the program information list from the simulcast detection means and the priority information list from the priority determination means; and switching means for determining a simulcast broadcast program to be switched on the basis of information from the storage means, when a user performs a program selection operation.
