A broadcast receiving device in an embodiment comprises: receiving means for receiving content data; connection means for connecting to an external storage device; content storage means for storing the received content data in the connected external storage device; determination processing means which, when at least one external storage device among the connected external storage devices has conversion means for converting content data, transmits test purpose content data to the one external storage device letting the content data converted by the conversion means before being stored in the connected external storage devices, and thereafter executes a determination process to determine whether storing the test purpose content data in the external storage devices is finished within a time corresponding to an operation executed along with content storage by the content storage means; and notification means for notifying the result of determination by the determination process.
