A broadcast signal receiver includes: reception sections (10, 12, 14 and 16) receiving a first broadcast signal including the high quality data, and a second broadcast signal including the low quality data, in which the same content is broadcast by different broadcast systems; a holding section (20) holding the high quality data of the received first broadcast signal for prescribed time; a detecting section (30) detecting transition of an error on the held high quality data for the prescribed time; and output sections (32 and 34) which selectively output the high quality data of the received first broadcast signal and the low quality data of the received second broadcast signal in accordance with the transition of the detected error.
