Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a brush device which can secure the smoothness of the axial movement of a carbon brush and stabilize spark.
SOLUTION: A rod-shaped carbon brush 43 whose tip is brought into contact with a rotating commutator 31, and a coil spring 45 pressing the brush 43 against the commutator 31 are housed in a cylindrical metal brush holder 42. The tip edge 50a of the brush holder 42, positioned on a downstream in the rotation direction of the commutator 31, is bent so as to part from the side surface 43a of the brush 43. With such a constitution, the cut end surface 50b of the tip edge 50a, left as it is cut, is relieved from the side surface 43a of the brush 43 positioned on the downstream in the rotation direction of the commutator 31 and, following the axial movement the brush 43, the side surface 43a is not shaved by the cut end surface 50b.
