PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide for a brush holder assembly that may aid an operator in safely removing/replacing brushes in a dynamoelectric machine.SOLUTION: A brush retainment member 104 is configured to be releasably affixed to a stationary support member 102. The brush retainment member 104 has at least one rail configured to slide along at least one groove. The brush retainment member 104 has a knife electrical connector configured to mate with a fork electrical connector. A radio frequency identification device (RFID) tag is mounted on the brush retainment member 104, and configured to monitor brush wear and communicate the brush wear status to a monitoring system. The stationary support member 102 is configured for electrical connection to a collector mount 110, and the brush retainment member 104 is configured to retain at least one brush.
