The brush roll 1 has a roughly rod-shaped or cylindrical shaft 3, and a brush part 2 helically wound around the outer periphery of the shaft 3. The brush part 2 is formed such that three or more brush bodies 4a, 4b and 4c composed of a channel brush 5 comprising a strip-like body 6 whose cross-section is roughly U-shaped and a brush bristle material 8 clamped together with a core wire 7 by the strip-like body 6 are provided in parallel and are helically wound around the outer periphery of the shaft 3. The gap G1 of the adjacent brush bodies 4a, 4b and 4c is set to be the width W1 of the strip-like body 6 or less.
