PURPOSE: To prevent the lateral drift of a cross tie on a track bed caused by the lateral pressure of rails by coupling nearly U-shaped coupling sections to end sections of the cross tie, and protruding hook plates on the installation face side of the cross tie.

CONSTITUTION: A plurality of buckling preventing plates 1 made of a steel plate or an FRP drawn molding are prepared. The nearly U-shaped coupling section 2 of the buckling preventing plate 1 is outwardly coupled to one end section of a cross tie 4. The inner face of a side plate 22 is thrust into contact with the end face 42 of the cross tie 4, and the buckling preventing plate 1 is coupled to the cross tie 4 with bolts 211 for reliability. The buckling preventing plate l is also fixed to the other end section of the cross tie 4. The cross tie 4 fitted with the buckling preventing plates 1 is installed on a ballast track bed. Hook pieces 3 then bite into ballast.
