Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a 100% solid polymer by reacting a specific polymer component with a cyclic ester component in the absence of catalyst and solvent.

CONSTITUTION: By polymerizing at least one kind of ethylenic unsaturated monomers (example: 2-hydroxyethylacrylate) at 100-300°C and for 10 minutes to 6 hours, a polymer having hydroxy group or carboxylic acid functionality is formed. Then, this polymer is reacted with a cyclic ester component which contains a lactone component of 0.1-10mol per mol of hydroxy group or carboxylic acid group of the formula (n is 1 or more; at least one R is H, the other R is H, alkyl, cycloalkyl, alkoxy, and single cyclic aromatic hydrocarbon group) and which has mutual solubility with the above polymer component, at 100-300°C without using a catalyst and a solvent.
