Abstract:
PURPOSE: To effectively suppress bulking without exerting effect on the treatment capacity of activated sludge by adding an indazole derivative specifically suppressing the growth of filamentous fungi in activated sludge in a filamentous state to the activated sludge as an effective component.
CONSTITUTION: In the treatment of activated sludge due to an activated sludge method putting the capacity of bacteria to practical use, filamentous fungi in the activated sludge bridges the flocs in the activated sludge because they grow in a filamentous state to bring about the deterioration of the compactness of the activated sludge. As a result, the sludge is swollen to become inferior in sedimentation properties and becomes the so-called bulky state. Then, an indazole derivative represented by either one of formulae specifically suppressing the growth of filamentous fungi in a filamentous state is added to the activated sludge as an effective component. By this constitution, bulking is effectively suppressed without exerting effect on the treatment capacity of the activated sludge and the compactness of the activated sludge can be kept and the treatment efficiency of the sludge is enhanced.
