PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a bulky woven fabric hardly deforming, having excellent cushioning properties, water absorption, water retainability, heat retaining properties, air permeability and design, useful for a carpet, etc., by using a thermally shrinkable yarn to weave a woven fabric of honeycomb weaving texture, shrinking the woven fabric under specific conditions and bulking the woven fabric in the thickness direction.
SOLUTION: A woven fabric of honeycomb weaving texture is woven by using a thermally shrinkable yarn having ≥10% shrinkage percentage in boiling water. The woven fabric is heat-treated, for example, at a temperature of ≥90°C wet heat and shrunk so at to make ≤70% woven fabric area. The woven fabric is bulked in the thickness direction to give a bulky woven fabric B having a shrunk honeycomb weaving texture in which the depth of the recessed central part of each square division 1 constituting a lattice pattern on the surface of the woven fabric is 0.5-3 times the length of the side of each square measure 1. Preferably the bulky woven fabric B is produced by cutting a woven fabric of honeycomb weaving texture into a fixed size, removing yarns at the peripheral part of the out woven fabric in the side directions, sewing the boundary part between the parts from which the yarns are removed and the honeycomb weaving texture and heat-treating two woven fabric.
