To provide a bumper reinforcement for an automobile capable of effectively demonstrating shock-damping effect through a collapse deformation during a collision.
The bumper reinforcement 1 is mounted on a side member 5 via a shock-damping member 2 provided on each fore end of right and left side members 5 extending in the longitudinal direction of an automobile. A through hole 3 as an easily deforming means is formed in the bumper reinforcement 1 at the position in a vicinity of a coupling part 1d with the shock-damping member 2. In a collision of the automobile, in particular, in a low-speed offset collision, the collision energy is absorbed to mitigate the impact by a forming part of the through hole 3 of the bumper reinforcement 1 and the shock-damping member 2, and the deformation of the side member 5 is suppressed.
