To fit a bumper of an outomobile at a constant position so that a clearance between the bumper and a headlight is kept constant.
A positioning tool 10 comprises a pair of pad parts 12a and 12b formed of a shock-absorbing resin material, a columnar connection shaft 14 to connect substantially centers of the pads 12a and 12b to each other, a pair of bolts 16a and 16b to connect the connection shaft 14 to the pads 12a and 12b, an inclined surface 20 which is inclined at a predetermined angle downwardly on the upper surface of a projecting part 18 protruded from side surfaces of the pads 12a and 12b, and a holding surface 28 substantially orthogonal to one side surface on the lower side of the projecting part 18. The projecting part 18 of the positioning tool 10 is fitted between the headlight and a bumper stay, and fixed after adjusting the position of the bumper stay in a temporarily fitted state, and the bumper is fitted to the upper part of the bumper stay.
