Abstract:

To provide a burning apparatus provided with a kiln for housing ceramics to be burned and burning them, which is so designed as to be capable of freely and precisely controlling the partial pressure of oxygen in a wide range from a normal pressure to 10-18 atm.

This burning apparatus is provided with an inert gas feed source 1 for feeding an inert gas which is inert at normal temperatures, an oxygen- containing gas feed source 2 for feeding an oxygen-containing gas having a predetermined partial pressure of oxygen, a hydrogen-containing gas feed source 3 for feeding a hydrogen-containing gas having a predetermined partial pressure of hydrogen, a feed passage 15D for feeding one or more kinds of gases selected from among the inert gas, the oxygen-containing gas and the hydrogen- containing gas into a kiln 10, an oxygen pump 7 provided along the feed passage 15D, and a unit for measuring the partial pressure of oxygen.
