PURPOSE: To break down a waste fluorescent tube without generating bursting sound and dispersion of pieces of broken glass by fitting a rivet projecting outward in the radial direction to a part of a metallic band such as water hose band, and fitting this band to a tool such as water pliers so as to break down the metallic cap of the waste fluorescent tube.

CONSTITUTION: A rivet 2 projecting outward in the radial direction is fitted to a part of a metallic band 1 such as water hose band available on the market. Such metallic band 1 with the rivet is fitted to a proper position of a tool 3 such as water pliers, and the tool 3 is operated so that the rivet 2 is inserted to the metallic cap of a waste fluorescent tube, so as to break down the metallic cap. By disposing of the fluorescent tube in this way, bursting sound at breaking down can be restrained, in addition dispersion of pieces of broken glass can be prevented, and the fluorescent tube can be safely disposed.
