Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a new butadiene derivative having excellent PAI-1 inhibiting activities and useful for prevention and treatment of myocardial infarction, various thrombosis, restenosis after percutaneous per tubam coronary arterioplasty (PTCA).
SOLUTION: This new butadiene derivative is a compound of formula I [ring A and ring B are each a (substituted) heterocycle or a (substituted) benzene ring; R1 and R2 are each H or a lower alkyl; one of COR32 and COR42 is carboxyl and the other is an (esterified) carboxyl], e.g. (1Z,3E)-1-(4- cyclopentyloxy-3-methoxyphenyl)-2-methoxycarbonyl-3-carboxy-4-phenylbutadiene. The compound of formula I is obtained by treating a diester compound of formula II (COR31 and COR41 are each an esterified carboxyl) with an acid or a base.
