Abstract:
To provide an aromatic vinyl resin excellent in glossiness and impact resistance, and a method producing the same.SOLUTION: A method for producing an aromatic vinyl resin includes: (i) directly mixing a polymer solution containing a butadiene-styrene linear copolymer of which a content of 1,2-structural unit is 8-14 wt.% and a distribution range of a molecular weight is wide and a polymer solution containing a low cis-polybutadiene rubber with an aromatic vinyl matrix monomer; and then (ii) performing bulk polymerization to obtain an aromatic vinyl resin, and has unimodal distribution such that the number average molecular weight is 70,000-160,000 and a molecular weight distribution index is 1.55-2, where based on the total amount of the butadiene-styrene linear copolymer, a content of a styrene structural unit is 10-45 wt.% and a content of a butadiene structural unit is 55-90 wt.%, a Mooney viscosity is 50-150, and a gel content is less than 20 wt.ppm.SELECTED DRAWING: None
