Abstract:
To provide an end effector assembly.SOLUTION: A surgical buttress 500b is releasably attached to an anvil assembly 300 by an advantageously positioned attachment pad 340 for attachment to an inwardly facing or tissue contacting surface 320 of a staple cartridge and/or an anvil plate 302. The attachment pad is made of the same degradable polymer as the surgical buttress. Composing the attachment pad and the surgical buttress of the same material allows easier bonding since the attachment pad and the surgical buttress have the same melting temperature and chemical properties.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
