Abstract:
PURPOSE: To prevent intrusion of moisture into a cable container by providing the base and the cover, respectively, with a pad of superabsorptive foam material and containing the joint of transmission medium between these pads. CONSTITUTION: When moisture intrudes into a cable container 20 along an opening or cables 22, 26, the moisture touches a superabsorptive foam material to cause swelling of pads 51, 52 made of the superabsorptive foam material. Since a cover 32 is secured to a base 30, the pads 51, 52 are extended through swelling to an opening (not shown) in a housing and the opening is closed. Furthermore, the pads 51, 52 are compressed, a joint 50 is further embedded therein and moisture is prevented from reaching the joint 50.
