Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an error produced by the irregularity of a surface of a cable in detecting the tension of the cable in a cable-type steering device in which a steering wheel is joined to a steering gear box with the cable made of twisted metal wire and the drive of a power steering motor is controlled based on the tension of the cable.
SOLUTION: This cable-type steering device put two rollers 15 arranged to the tip of the arm 14 of a potentiometer 12 into contact with the inner cables 51, 61 of two Bowden cables 5, 6 extending from a drive pulley 11dr rotated integrally with a steering wheel to detect the tension of the inner cables 51, 61 by rotating the arm 14. The inner cables 51, 61 are swaged or coated with resin to make the surface thereof smooth and to prevent the vibration of the roller 15, whereby the detection accuracy of the potentiometer 12 is improved.
