PURPOSE: To obtain an elevator cage having a structure in which a suspending metal fitting is not fixed on a side plate, in the constitution in which a protecting screen is suspended on the suspending metal fitting, in order to protect the side plate of the cage.

CONSTITUTION: A ceiling plate 7 is fixed through a bracket 8 on the top cover plate 3 of a cage 1, and the edge part 7b of the separated part 7a of the ceiling plate 7 protrudes to a side plate 2 side from the bracket 8. A suspending metal fitting 10 is screwed with a female screw which is formed horizontally on the vertical surface of the bracket 8, and installed so as to be shiftable between an accommodation position on the inside of the edge part 7b of the separated part 7a of the ceiling plate 7 and between the top cover plate 3 and the ceiling plate 7, and the projection position on the outside of the edge part 7b of the separated part 7a of the ceiling plate 7 and between the side plate 2, and suspends a protecting screen 6 at the projection position. Accordingly, when the suspending metal fitting is not fixed on the side plate, and the protecting screen is not used, the suspending metal fitting is not caught by the eyes of the passengers in a cage room, and the suspending metal fitting can be manufactured at a low cost.
