Abstract:
To provide a cage for a rolling bearing excellent in wear resistance and fatigue strength and excellent in durability even if used in a severe condition.
Steel is molded into a cage shape for a thrust roller bearing by press molding or the like to obtain a steel material. Shot blasting is performed to the steel material to uniformly distribute a dislocation texture on the surface. The dislocation density of the dislocation texture is within a range of 1×104 cm-2 to 1×1012 cm-2. Gas nitriding is then performed to the steel material at 400-590°C to form a hard nitride layer. The steel material subjected to gas nitriding is further held at 500-590°C for a predetermined time and then quenched for hardening to complete the cage 4.
