PURPOSE: To improve mechanical strength by adding at least one of alkali metal sulfates or magnesium sulfate to a slurry containing CaSiO3 and fibrous material.
CONSTITUTION: A specified amt. of hot water is added to quick lime to prepare a slaked lime slurry, to which silica is added in a manner that CaO and SiO2 are made equimolar, and the slurry is heated under pressure to prepare CaSiO3 hydrate. To this CaSiO3 hydrate slurry, 5-30 pts.wt. of Na2SO4 or MgSO4 anhydride is added to 100 pts.wt of CaSiO3 solid content. Then, fibrous material having 1-30mm fiber length such as carbon fiber, by <30wt.% to the solid content, and 2-25 pts.wt. carboxylated SBR latex are added to the slurry. The obtd. slurry is dehydrated and molded by pressure-compression dehydration molding method, etc., and dried at 100-180°C to obtain a CaSiO3 molded body having excellent mechanical strength.
