PURPOSE: To subject a web to calender treatment uniformly in the width direction and decrease adhesion of dust to the surface of the web or calender rolls by approximately vertically putting the rotation shaft of the calender rolls.

CONSTITUTION: Calender rolls 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 are provided horizontally (in Y direction) so that the rotation shafts 2A, 3A, 4A, 5A and 6A are turned vertically (in Z direction). Deflection of the calender rolls is reduced in both of amount thereof and produced direction and a web 1 can be subjected to calender treatment uniformly in width direction thereof.
