Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a calibration method in which the actual shape can be reproduced correctly by applying a strain gauge to a steel plate at a position corresponding to a split disc and then obtaining a correction value based on a tension measurement data and a load detection value of a shape detection roll.
CONSTITUTION: A strain gauge 1 is attached to a steel band 2 at a position corresponding to the center of a split disc 5 on a shape detection roll 3. The gauge 1 is connected, on the steel band 2 side, with a data logger 9 through a bridge box 8 and, on the roll 3 side, with a data logger 12 through a shape operating board 11. The data loggers 9, 12 collect tension of the steel band 2 and load data of the roll 3 while driving a mill at a low speed. Two data are then expressed in terms of unit tension per unit area of the steel band in order to operate a correction value for multiplying the detection load of the roll thus correcting the detection load. This method realizes a correct calibration for reproducing the actual shape.
