Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a less inconvenient caliper with a new configuration, for example, by facilitating miniaturization and increasing heat resistance.SOLUTION: A caliper includes: a housing that is, for example, composed of a metal material and includes a cylinder; a piston that is composed of a metal material, is movably stored in the cylinder, and presses a brake pad by pressurization of a hydraulic fluid within the cylinder; and an annular boot that is composed of elastomer, covers an annular gap between the cylinder and the piston so as to straddle the cylinder and the piston, is joined to at least one of the housing and the piston by direct crosslinking bonding, and is deformable following movement of the piston within the cylinder.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
