PURPOSE: To obtain the call reception control system for an ATM network in which the utility efficiency of a transmission channel is enhanced without deterioration in the user service quality.
CONSTITUTION: In the call reception control system for an ATM network to estimate a band at which a prescribed service quality is guaranteeed based on a report traffic descriptor applied by the user, let the report value of a mean cell speed (cell/s) be Ra, of a maximum cell speed (cell/s) be Rp, of a maximum burst size (cell) be MBS, a maximum number of cells transferred through a channel for 1sec be Tcell, a transfer time (s) of a channel be To, and the relation of Tp=Tcell/Rp and Ts=Tcell/Ra is in existence, then in the case of a fixed minimum cell generating interval (Tmin=(Tp×To)), a cell flow sent from the user has a fluctuation according to an exponential distribution around (MBS×Tp×To) for ON periods of the flow and has a fluctuation according to an exponential distribution around {MBS×(Ts-Tp)×To} for OFF periods of the flow. A band is estimated by approximating the system by a reference burst traffic model for ON plue OFF periods.
