Abstract:
PURPOSE:To improve the durability as well as to reduce the weight in a cam which is connected to a hollow shaft by providing a meshing part on the inner surface of a through hole for shaft and a thin plate part which is wear-resistant in the sliding area. CONSTITUTION:A camshaft 1 has a desired number of cams 2 and journals 3 in desired places on a hollow shaft 4. In this instance, the shaft 4 is expanded to allow itself to dig into a meshing section 7 provided on the inner surface of the cams 2 and journals 3 to fasten the cams 2 and journals 3. The cam 2 consists of a cam base 2a which is formed by cold-forging the raw material with a through hole 2b for the shaft 4 and a thin plate material 5 connected to it. The thin plate material 5 is made of a wear-resistant material, and is connected to the outer circumference of the cam nose 2c by diffusion connection or brazing 6.
