Title:
CAM AND DEVICE FOR CHANGING VALVE CHARACTERISTIC FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3692849
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the enlargement of a device and an engine and the interference of the abutment of a cam follower on a cam surface, and to realize a sufficient gas passing amount.
SOLUTION: In a lift pattern by an intake cam, two maximal parts Mx1, Mx2 exist in the changing rate of a lift amount to a turning angle on a valve opening side (the advancing side of a peak P), and a minimal part may not exist in the lift amount. Thereby, a rise part having no trough part is formed during an exhaust stroke. Accordingly, exhaust can be recirculated, and the abutment of a cam follower may not be interfered. Besides, even though the lift amount is small, an exhaust passing amount can be sufficiently secured by the whole rise part. Thus, the intake cam which is a three-dimensional cam is not required to have such a profile that a cam profile is changed at a sharp angle or axially lengthened. Therefore, the enlargement of a device and an internal combustion engine can be prevented.
