To provide a cam follower and a method for producing the cam follower, in which the size and cost of the cam follower are reduced using a high-strength cam follower stud with a fiber flow continuously formed over each part without causing fiber flow disconnection by cutting.
The cam follower includes an outer ring 31 having an outside track surface 34 on the inner periphery, the cam follower stud 11 having an inside track surface 20 opposite to the outside track surface 34, in which a jaw portion 12 adjacent to one side of the inside track surface 20 and a side plate press-fit portion 17 and an attachment shaft portion 18, which are adjacent to the other side of the inside track surface 20, are formed in this order, and a fiber flow is continuously formed along the surface from the jaw portion 12 toward a track portion 16 in which the inside track surface 20 is formed in the outer periphery, a rolling element 32 arranged between the outside track surface 34 and the inside track surface 20, and an inside plate 33 which is press-fitted to the side plate press-fit portion 17 so as to restrict the axial movement of the outer ring 31 and the rolling element 32 in cooperation with the jaw portion 12.
