To provide a cam follower having a compact roller section, precisely positioning a roller in the axial direction and assembled easily without trouble.

The cam follower is provided with: a pair of opposite side walls 2, 3; and a support shaft 4 extending between the pair of side walls 2, 3, and is also provided with a deep groove ball bearing 5 mounted on the outer periphery of the middle portion of the support shaft 4. The deep groove ball bearing 5 includes: a plurality of balls 7 arranged on the above outer periphery of the support shaft 4 serving as an inner-ring raceway 4b; a retainer 8 for the balls 7; and an outer ring 9 rotatably supported by the inner-ring raceway 4b via the plurality of balls 7. The height h of each side wall 2 or 3 on an opposite-to-load side is set smaller than a minimum internal diameter Ri of the outer ring 9. Under such a condition that the balls 7 are not fitted on the inner peripheral side of the outer ring 9, a gap Eb through which the balls 7 can be fed to the inner peripheral side of the outer ring 9 is formed between the inner peripheral portion of the outer ring 9 and the opposite-to-load side portions of the side walls 2, 3.
