Abstract:
PURPOSE:To eliminate blow holes by remelting and chilling at least a portion of cam surface of a cam section by a high energy density source. CONSTITUTION:A cam shaft comprises a cam section 1 and a shaft section 2 made of spherical graphite cast iron, and at least a portion 3 of cam surface of the cam section 1 is remelted and chilled by a high energy density source. Thus, anti-wear property of the cam shaft is improved without damaging the resiliency, and the cam section 1 is provided which has the surface without any blow holes.
