Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain a cam shaft having a low weight and sufficient strength capable of effectively absorbing variation by forming the shaft portion of cam shaft having a cam portion on said shaft portion, with strengthened compound synthetic resin and a reinforcing member made of metal. CONSTITUTION:A cam shaft 1 is formed with an approximately cylindrical shaft portion 2 and a cam portion 3 integrated with said shaft portion 2. And said shaft portion 3 is with strengthened compound synthetic resin 5 and a reinforcing member 6 made of metal. Said strengthened compound synthetic resin is formed by blending synthetic resin with fibrous material. Thermo hardening resin in epoxy-series, phenol-series etc. and inorganic or organic fiber etc. such as glass fiber, carbon fiber etc. are suitable for said synthetic resin and fibrous material respectively.
