Title:
CAM SHAFT
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS6456908
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PURPOSE:To prevent gears from excessive stress being generated therein by fixing the gears on a cam shaft side to the cam shaft and also providing a dynamic damper attached to the cam shaft in a gear train for driving the cam shaft of a reciprocating type internal combustion engine. CONSTITUTION:A cam shaft 12b is rotatably supported through bearings 16 in an engine. A gear 18b fixed to one end of the cam shaft 12b is driven by a driving gear 19 fixed to one end of a crank shaft 8 via a gear train 22 and the shaft 12b drives exhaust valves 11 via cams 23b formed in its intermediate portion. In the above-mentioned structure, a dynamic damper 26b is attached on the other end of the cam shaft 12b. The damper 26b is formed by a mass member 27 surrounding a cam shaft 12b and an elastic vibration-proof member 28 fitted between both of these members. Torsional vibration produced in the cam shaft 12b is thereby absorbed so that generation of excessive stress in the gear 18b is prevented.
