Abstract:

PURPOSE: To make the follow-up ability of auto-focusing operation natural and favorable through simple configuration without mounting newly any exclusive sensor, etc., and to make the feeling to use of a user favorable in the case, for instance, of application to a video camera, etc., by obtaining the size of a motion vector from the video data of the portion of two pictures, and simultaneously, obtaining the difference of the contrast of two pictures, and further, determining a controlled variable on the basis of these values only when this difference is smaller than '0', and executing the auto-focusing of the video camera 1 on the basis of this.
CONSTITUTION: Memories 3,4 and a processing part 5 which closed-circuit- integrate the motion vector from the video signal of the portion of, at least, two pictures when the contrast of a video signal from the video camera 1 to pick up the image of a subject is small, and deciding part 6 which controls the focusing of the video camera 1 for the subject by obtaining the distance data of the subject on the basis of a processing result from these, and determining the moving direction and the moving amount of the lens of the video camera 1 on the basis of this are provided.
