PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a focal-plane shutter in which energization time and consumption power can be decreased, and a blade bound caused by impact at the end of exposing travelling can be surely prevented to block the returning of blade.SOLUTION: In a focal-plane shutter, an engaging mechanism capable of rotating around the axis comprises: an engaging lever including a first engaging part at one end which engages with a first engaged part of a first driving member so as to inhibit rotation of the first driving member in the set direction, and a permanent magnet at the other end; and an electric magnet for the engaging lever which generates magnetic force against the permanent magnet by energizing in one side direction. The engaging lever is rotated to switch between a direction where the first engaged part is engaged and a direction where the first engaged part is disengaged according to switchover between energizing in one side direction of the electric magnet for the engaging lever and terminating energization. The electric magnet for the engaging lever generates, when a blade travels to the exposure actuation direction, magnetic force increasing absorption power with the permanent magnet by energizing in a reverse direction to the direction where the magnetic force against the permanent magnet is generated.
