PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a focal plane shutter and camera that allow power saving to shorten convergence time of bounds at the time when return travel of blades to an exposure operation start position ends.SOLUTION: A lock mechanism comprises: a mechanism that has a lock lever 15 being rotatable centering around a shaft and having a lock unit 15a locking a locked part 11c of a first drive member 11 to suppress rotation in a direction of setting the first drive member 11 at one end and a permanent magnet 15b at the other end, and an electromagnet 16 generating magnetic force repulsive to the permanent magnet 15b by electrification in a single-sided direction, and that causes the lock lever 15 to be rotated in a direction locking the locked part 11c and in a direction releasing the locking in accordance with a change-over between the electrification in the single-side direction with respect to the electromagnet 16 and a release of the electrification, and that suppresses bounds arising from impacts at the time when return travel of blades 19-22 to an exposure operation start position ends; a concave-shaped positioning unit of the first drive member; and a convex-shaped positioning unit of a second drive member.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
