In the camera head of the pickup device for the endoscope capable of separating into a pickup unit including the pickup elements and a camera cable unit including the camera cable, and detachably connecting the pickup elements of the pickup unit and a signal line of the camera cable unit via the electrical connector, the electrical connector is provided to the pickup unit side which has a contact terminal connected to the pickup elements and the same is provided to the camera cable side which has a contact terminal connected to the signal line of the camera cable, and both the contact terminals are directly or indirectly connected by insulation displacement contact when the pickup unit and the camera cable unit are assembled, and an elastic pressing means for contacting the contact terminals by insulation displacement contact is provided.
