Abstract:
To satisfactorily capture an image in a focused focal position.SOLUTION: A camera 10 for detecting an object in a detection area 14 is provided. The camera includes: an image sensor 18 for acquiring image data; a reception optics 16 having a focus adjustment unit 17 for adjusting a focal position; a distance sensor 24 for measuring a distance value to the object; and a control and evaluation unit 38 connected to the distance sensor and the focus adjustment unit to adjust the focal position depending on the distance value. The control and evaluation unit also measures a distance value with the distance sensor over variable measurement time set depending on a provisional distance value, as a result, a measurement error of the distance value, and then a focus deviation between the adjusted focal position and an ideal focal position when acquiring the image data of the object remains small enough for the required image sharpness of the image data.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
