To prevent power consumption from increasing by making a display show that shake corrections are made by a display means without performing shake correcting operation except in exposing operation and performing the shape correcting operation only during the exposing operation wherein a shake affects an image.

The camera is equipped with a vibration-proof means which deters a shake in photography, an operation member which makes a choice of whether the vibration-proof means is on or off, a storage means which stores image information from an image pickup element, a display means which displays the image information stored in the storage means and is provided for image confirmation in photography on a film, and a control means makes the vibration-proof means perform the shake correcting operation by turning on the operation member and starting the exposure of the film. The control means makes cycles wherein image information in frame units read out of the storage means is displayed by the display means different according to whether the operation member is on (Fig. 5, (B), and (C)) and off (Fig. 5 (A)).
