To send a required amount of control information to a camera through a path of a video signal.
The camera monitoring system is provided with a camera that photographs an object and a camera controller that controls the camera. The camera is provided with an AM modulator 36 that applies AM modulation to control information, an adder 33 that applies frequency multiplexing to an output of the modulator 36 and a video signal obtained by the photographing, and a transmission reception separation section 32 that separates the control information from a signal received via a coaxial cable 31 from the camera controller. On the other hand, the camera controller is provided with a transmission reception separation section 42 that separates the frequency-multiplexed signal coming from the camera into the video signal and the control information and an AM modulator 48 that applies AM modulation to the control information received by the camera controller and sends the modulated information.
