The camera system 100 includes: an ABS(V) part 11 for extracting the absolute value level Sav of the vertical edge signals of the image signals; a V integration part 12 for integrating the absolute value level Sav of the vertical edge signals; an ABS(H) part 21 for extracting the absolute value level Sah of the horizontal edge signals Esh of the image signals; a horizontal integration part 22 for integrating the absolute value level Sah of the horizontal edge signals; and a comparison and determination part 30 for comparing and determining an integrated value Asv which is the output of the vertical integration part (V integration part) 12 and an integrated value Ash which is the output of the horizontal integration part (H integration part) 22 and determining the abnormal state of the image signals.
