PURPOSE: To prevent malfunctioning of a camera due to misreading of film information by a magnetic head by inhibiting the operation of the camera when a film feed speed detected by a speed detecting means is judged to be lower than a predetermined speed.
CONSTITUTION: Rewinding of a film is started via a film feed drive circuit 17 and a film driving motor by detecting on ON state of a cartridge load switch 20 as a film cartridge is loaded in a camera and the ON state of a back lid switch 21 as a back lid is closed, so that the first frame of the film 1 is located at the aperture of the camera. A film feed speed v is detected in response to a pulse signal generated by a pulse plate 3 and armatures 4, 5 during the feed of the film. The speed v is compared with a critical speed v1 below which information can be stably read by a magnetic head 6 and, if v<v1, an alarm display circuit 23 is driven to display an alarm to indicate that it is impossible to read film information normally and then a series of camera operations are stopped. Malfunctioning of the camera due to misreading of film information by the magnetic head is thus prevented.
