Abstract:
To provide a camera which provides a playback display easily visible to a user regardless of the way of holding the camera up.
A digital image data is generated by photoelectric-converting an object image using an image pickup element 2, and the image represented by the digital image data is displayed on an LCD6. The display screen of the LCD6 is divided into a character display region and an image display region. An image pickup data is displayed with characters in the character display region while, in the image display region, the image data is reduced to a prescribed size and the direction of image, vertical or horizontal, is adjusted for display according to the way of holding the camera at image picking up.
