The camera is equipped with an image pickup optical system for forming an image with light from a subject by an imaging device having electric constitution, a lens barrel incorporating an optical system for picking up the image on film, and a spool chamber and a film cartridge chamber arranged to put the lens barrel in between. In the camera, the image pickup optical system is arranged adjacently to the lens barrel on the subject side of the film ejection port of the film cartridge chamber.
