To provide a camera in which workability is improved by automatically supplying power to the internal circuit of the camera when a service task is carried out after the cover of the camera is detached, thereby eliminating the need to turn on a main switch.

In the camera having the upper cover 13 covering a camera body 10, the camera body has a service switch SMSW. The switch SMSW is operated in contact with the service switch projection 136 of the upper cover 13, turned off when the upper cover 13 is attached to the camera body 10, and turned on when the upper cover 13 is detached from the camera body 10. When the upper cover 13 is detached for a service task, the service switch SMSW is automatically turned on, consequently power is supplied to the internal circuit (CPU) 1 and allows the service. Thus, the service workability is improved.
