PURPOSE: To provide a camshaft and the manufacturing method of the camshaft easy to manufacture and simple in structure enabling the common use of parts such as a cam piece even for a different engine while the cam piece is fixed to a shaft member with large fixing strength in the rotating direction and thrust direction of the shaft member.

CONSTITUTION: A shaft member 14 is inserted through a hollow journal 12, a cam piece 11 with a shaft hole 11a, and a hollow spacer member 17. The journal 12, cam piece 11 and spacer member 17 are slip-off stopped by a slip-off stopper part 14a on one end side of the shaft member 14, and a bolt 16 is fastened to the other end of the shaft member 14. Between the slip-off stopper part 14a and the bolt 16, the journal 12, cam piece 11 and spacer member 17 are fixed with specified spaces and phase to the shaft member 14.
