To provide a can lid and a tab used for the can lid, capable of preventing contact of inner surfaces when can lids are stacked, without decreasing finger-catching properties of the tab, and without reducing strength of the tab.

The can lid 100 includes: a rivet 3 formed to project from the central portion on the upper face of a can lid body 1; an opening piece 5 demarcated by a score: a tab 2 attached to the rivet 3 so that an end 21 is superposed on the opening piece 5: and a finger catch recess 6 formed on the other end of the tab 2, wherein the other end of the tab 2 is pulled upward, and thus, the one end 21 presses the opening piece 5 downward to break the score, and the opening piece 5 is opened. The edge of the other end of the tab 2 has a flat portion 22a orthogonal to the longitudinal direction of the tab 2, and upper faces of corners 22b located at both ends of the flat portion 22a are recessed downward and formed low.
