PURPOSE: To perfectly perform vacuuming in a can in the shortest possible time by providing mechanisms of accurately determining the position of the can and perfectly evacuating the can inside, at the time of fitting and fixing a cap body to the can mouth.
CONSTITUTION: A can 90 containing contents is placed on the chain 92 of a machine bed 65 and is transferred in the (a) direction. When the can 90 abuts on a stopper 10, the can 90 is deshed to a dash board 99 by a cylinder 96, a rod 97 and a pressing plate 98. A cylinder 87 is then operated to fit a cap body 84 to a can mouth 91. Thence, the can body 90 is fed into a tower body 66 and is stopped with a stopper 101. Pressure air is fed into a cylinder chamber 13 and the can 90 is moved upward by a lifter mechanism E. The cap body 84 is attracted to an attracting member 3; an annular press-contacting member 9 and the can 90 are press-contacted; a head A is moved upward, and the air in the can 90 is perfectly evacuated by a vacuum source 21 by way of a lower opening 18 and an upper opening 14. The head A is lowered, to fit the cap body 84 to the can mouth 91; a core rod 6 is force-lowered to expand an expanding member 4 to perfectly fit and fix the cap body 84 to the can mouth, and the core rod 6 and the head A are forced upward to release the can 90.
