To provide a cap seaming apparatus for accurately and inexpensively controlling a cap seaming angle with a reduced number of sensors.
This cap seaming apparatus includes a capping head 12 for holding a cap C, a servomotor 14 for rotating the head 12, a transfer drive 20 for transferring the head 12, a controller 64 for controlling the servomotor 14, and a height sensor 62 for detecting the height of the head 12 when the head 12 being seamed reaches a predetermined position, transferred by the drive 20. The controller 64 calculates a remaining angle for the cap to be rotated on the basis of height information from the sensor 62 and sends a command signal to the servomotor 14. After rotating the cap by the angle commanded according to the signal, the motor 14 stops the rotation to uniformize seaming angles.
