Abstract:

A capacitive load cell comprises a body of ceramic material, the body having substantially rigid outer arms 13, 14 and a relatively flexible central arm 16. The central arm 16 on opposed faces conductive layers 26, 27 and the outer arms 13, 14 have inserts 36, 37 clamped thereto, the inerts being formed thereon conductive layers 33, 34 which co-operate with the layers 26, 27 capacitively. Means are providing for applying a load to the central arm 16 to flex the same and thus change the spacing between the layers to provide a capacitance corresponding to the load. The two capacitors formed by the layers each act as a frequency determining element in a different oscillator.
